The functional principle: The more antibodies in the colostrum, the higher its specific density and the higher the buoyancy; the colostrum spindle dips more or less deeply into the milk in the measuring cylinder depending on the density:
Biestmilch of good quality: immersion of the spindle only up to the green colour mark or specific density < 1045. Biestmilch of medium quality: immersion up to light green colour or specific density between 1035 and 1045. Biestmilch of poor quality: immersion up to red colour mark or specific density < 1035.
There is no simpler and quicker way to determine the defence potential of Biestmilch! Do not "fly blind" when rearing calves. The quality of colostrum is often wrongly categorised as too good ("nice and yellow!") and the calf is therefore not optimally supplied with vital antibodies (especially IgG). The result: increased susceptibility to infections and illnesses such as diarrhoea, lung, umbilical and joint inflammation. Significantly more total losses and reduced daily weight gains. The milk yield potential of a cow is decided at calf age! What is missed here can hardly be compensated for later.
This glass spindle (with protective container and measuring cylinder milk container) belongs on every success-orientated dairy farm!
Create a Biestmilch depot (in the freezer) and label it with the measured quality.
