CalfFixx Head

Hardly in the world, the newborn calf has to face a whole series of measures and examinations. These include:

    Insertion of ear tags
    the taking of blood and tissue samples
    shearing the horn buds, administering medication or sedatives and painkillers

All of the measures mentioned have one thing in common. The calf's head must be fixed as well as possible so that the necessary care can be taken during the treatments.
Ideally, the calf's neck should be stretched for taking blood samples, and this also requires the calf's head to be fixed in an elevated position.
 
With the new and innovative CalfFixx headband, the calf's head can be brought into the fixation position quickly and easily. The calf fixes itself! The calf's neck is threaded into the oval, elongated opening of the CalfFixx. The other end of the CalfFixx can be hung higher on a gate or simply held in the hand of a helper. For example, the fixed calf's head is in the ideal position in the CalfFixx for inserting the ear tags, so the ear tags can be inserted in exactly the right place between the two cartilage ridges. This becomes particularly clear after the 1st ear tag has been drawn in. When the second ear tag is inserted, the calf becomes much more restless and defensive and you are happy when the calf's head is securely fixed. The CalfFixx can be used to stretch the neck to take blood samples. For the veterinarian, a very good and stress-free access to the jugular vein is possible.
Although the long, oval opening of the CalfFixx remains open during fixation, the calf can hardly ever free itself. It would have to perform 2 body movements at the same time - lifting its head and then stepping forward. Rather, the calf tends to move backwards and thus fixes itself all the more firmly in the CalfFixx.
When using it, 2 points must be observed:

Do not carry out any treatments with CalfFixx inserts around feeding time, at this point the calf has a very strong urge to move forward and thus free itself from the fixation position.
During the treatment, do not stand behind the calf, but in front of or to the side of the calf in the head area. This can also help to ensure that the calf does not free itself from the restraining position too early.

    
With the use of the CalfFixx you can make the treatments on the calf much easier. This leads to savings in working hours, easier work, better work results and minimizes the time the calf is exposed to the treatments. The result is a reduction in stress for each individual calf and thus a promotion of animal welfare in the entire calf husbandry. But the CalfFixx also plays an important role for your own occupational safety, which should not be underestimated.
