The rapid test detects protein residues by means of a color reaction. These are bacterial proteins, but can also be residues of disinfectants and cleaning agents. If proteins are present, this leads to a varying degree of blue discoloration of the yellow test pad. A color change occurs at a detection level of 25 to 50 μg protein per 100 cm².
